Cupping Therapy

Cupping is an ancient therapy that is used for pain management.
It’s performed by placing the glass cup on the affected body areas such as your back.

The cup will pull the tissue forward creating a suction due to the vacuum. This suction force breaks open tiny blood vessels under the skin and gets your body into thinking there is an injury present. When this happens, the body sends more blood flow into the area and encourages the healing process.

Majority of people use cupping for pain relief such as injuries, chronic pain, postural issues and arthritis.  However many people get cupping done for breathing issues, aesthetic purposes, hypertension, headaches, irritable bowel disease and many others.

Unlike massages and trigger point therapy where there is downward pressure is being applied, cupping pulls on the tissue, allowing the fascia to separate and stretch differently.

Due to the suction force, it is important to note that post cupping there will be visible marks which will look like circular bruises. These will fade within a week or two and aside from minimal short term soreness there aren’t any other side effects. It is a safe and efficient procedure that we will add on to your care when and if necessary.
